I currently have a 34MB ATM link from TE sitting in my research centre
lying idle, we were trying to get a link between our research lab and
Tellabs in Shannon, and also access to the European ATM test network,
One day I decided to get the link going ... (it's never really worked),
and I mailed the TE contact, who after a couple of days realised someone
had put the R&D switch that was in the Castletroy exchange into a box as
it was in the way of something else,
Orignally the link was down, and after 2 mths I got TE to admit it was
there fault, they contacted the exchange and the guy plugged the found out
that the fibre going to the switch was slightly damaged ...
So if TE couldn't run proper trials I'd hate to see them role it out, also
I think one of the dublin unis have an ATM link to the HEAnet now ..
Dave.
