I'm sure it is.

I thought that pon used the chat script? Though I could be wrong.
I had been using wvdial, but it has to be killed.
At the moment I can use pon to connect to Oceanfree, but I'd prefer to use
Eircom.

I'll have a look at /var/log/messages when I get home. I'm still trying to get
the hang of Linux.

I commented out all the options that the diald man page say causes conflicts,
but I'll have another look.

pon and poff connect the Internet. I've got these working. The confusing thing
is, I'm not really sure what scripts do what? This is a down side to Linux.
There are so many way to do the same thing, I've gotten lost trying to get this
going. The man pages suggest some things, the diald-examples have something
different, and the diald HOW-TO is different again.

I'll worry about that after I get diald working. One step at a time.

So,
Step 1:
I need a script that works with Eircom's free access, that is compatible with
diald and how I can run it on it's own for testing purposes.

Where should this script reside, and where do I tell diald how to use it?

Once I get something working, then I can work on tightening up the
standard.filter and such. I've also got some issues with ftp, telnet and such
I'll have to deal with. I'll leave those for later.

Also, will there be any changes needed when I get an ISDN line installed?

I'll send a copy of this to my Home E-Mail address so I can work from there in
the morning.

Thanks again for all the help. Once I get this going, I can truely say I've got
a Linux network running properly at home.
