Doh! I should have read this before replying to the last one. You
obviously don't need/want to change your real hostname.
I presume you have added a line in smb.conf to read
netbios alias = YourDesiredName
simply change that to read
netbios name = YourDesiredName
restart samba and you should be in business.
Btw, it can take a while (up to 15 minutes) for changes to be updated
in the Network Neighborhood so even if you successfully change this,
you may see your old name hanging around for a bit.
