You'll have to forgive *me* if I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I firmly
believe that the *only* factor causing the delay is eircom's unhappiness at
losing their monopoly, and having to give up the local loop, and that they're
just trying to make it bloody difficult on everyone else. I also firmly believe
that the regulator is well in eircoms pocket. Harsh maybe, put painfully obvious
to me. (Funny, Oireachtas Report is on the telly as I write this, and I hear
Alfie Kane's name being mentioned liberally).
As a small businessman in the Internet industry it pisses me off rightly.
eircom, and only eircom, are holding me back from being competitive with some of
these other morons who are only names because they've got the money to back
them. I've already dumped my phone on a desk in eircom and told them to ram it.
When eircom lose control completely, I'll take great pleasure in telling them to
take their line and shove it the same place as the phone. I just hope that Irish
people get wise and break from eircom - sorry to any shareholders on the list,
but I hope they go down in flames baby.
Of course they won't, they'll be taken over, but that's another story...
