I wouldn't... gcc-2.95 is newer than egcs-1.1.2.
Perhaps you need a c++-devel, or a libstdc++-devel
or something.

Where did you get the gcc RPMs from? Maybe get
redhat-built ones from rawhide? The rawhide
RPMs are up to 2.95.3-0.20000517.
