is a basic 2d graphics library that draws direct to gif files, might be
what you are looking for, i used it reasonably well to do a library to
convert wmf files to gif. The version included in libwmf off my home
page has improved polygon filling code that removes banding that may
show up in complicated polygons, and has ttf text support as well, if
you need all that extra jazz.
