shouldn't there be a .so in there? ie:

ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.9 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8

i had this with some other programme, and i think 2.9 and 2.8 aren't binary
compatible. I have 2.9, 2.8 and 2.7 installed cause they're all not
compatible with each other.
