I was wondering why Goldmine wasn't working too well running off one of
our Linux servers.
Then I did an ls in the attachments directory and waited half a minute..
nothing. I tried /bin/ls -f and watched stuff come flying down the
screen for 2 minutes! Piped into wc -l it appears that there are 25,000
or so files in there! That's what was making Goldmine stall when people
tried to download any mail with attachments!
Obviously storing this number of files in one directory was a bad move
from day one but is there any way I can get around it using Samba, short
of deleting all those damn .htm files.

Hmm, I wonder if I can put Reiserfs on that machine.

Donncha.
