Sounds like apache cannot resolve your "Servername" in the httpd.conf.
Does your box have an A record in DNS? try experimenting with
"localhost" or the ip, then "apachectl start". See "servername section
of the httpd.conf for more details. Also, tail your apache error_log, it
will usually give you a better indication as to what is wrong.
