Hey,

We have a test linux machine in here. Plan is that we leave it just
sitting there and if any students are interested they can log on
and play with it.

However, all student accounts are on NT machines. I was thinking
that it might be possible to grab a list of names from an NT machine
( via samba maybe ) and then i could use this list to add the students
to the linux machine with a script of some sort. The machine will
be left on it's own to work away and after i leave ( 2 days ) there
won't be anyone who knows how to add users ( or will have the time, or
inclination ) to do so.

sorry, i ain't describing this too well. I want the machine to be able to
create users by the users themselves on the fly. I don' want to leave a
script running on telnet because then there will be no control over how
many accounts are created or, more importantly, who creates them.

so, because they already have their accounts on NT, i figure i can just
use those.

follow ?

Gav
