For the 0.5 people who might have an interest in maps and pretty
pictures of the planet. Patches for adding fuller projection to
xplanet and more importantly a sample rendered output from it are at
http://www.csn.ul.ie/~caolan/publink/xplanet/
The code is awesomely slow at the moment and it needs a few more tweaks here
and there but the output is still worthy.
Neat things about a fuller projection is that its a map projection where
all the land masses are drawn with minimal distortion in sizes in relation
to eachother. So you can tell which continents are bigger than others,
just what is the size of Antarctica eh? Its an awesomely cunning map
in its layout. One of eccentric Buckminster Fullers inventions.
