[ILUG] Applix words application - 'illegal character' upon opening

I have created an Applix words document. I saved it - and all appeared well.
But when I attempt to re-open the document I get an 'illegal charater in
position nnn' and Applix will not permit the document to be opened. I am in
real trouble with this one. Applix runs on a Linux Redhat 6.1 version
running the Gnome environment.

Can anyone help.... I am a new user at Linux... sorry to trouble you..
