Saw this this morning buts its only now that the full implications of this
have become clear to me. GDK is now independent of X, meaning different
backends can be easily written to allow GDK to render onto various kinds
of framebuffers/surfaces/displays. This, in turn, means that GTK will also
run on all these backends. Imagine GTK on AALIB or Gnome running in a
mozilla window?!
How about GTK on GGI?
Or even GTK on SDL on GGI on SVGALib?
Or even freakier: GTK on SDL within GTK
uuuhhhhhh!!
There was a funny freshmeat editorial by Ryan Gordan on this kind of
lunacy awhile back.
