Confirmed... when you give an incorrect value, the kernel assumes
that you're correct and the hardware isn't, tries to use all of the
memory you told it about, and promptly gives a protection fault.
I've just tested this on a 64MB Athlon 800 running 2.2.14 something.
So, don't try and use memory you haven't got, people : it'll hang
the machine and require you to go and fix it personally.
