I was thinking that should work myself but doesn't it seem there is another
problem here. Why, if the default Mandrake installation kernel can boot
with LILO, doesn't a smaller recompiled kernel? Why has LILO got this 800K
limit and, if needs be, is something available to boot larger kernels?
I'd imagine the best thing for Glen's friend to do is to compile the kernel
with as many things as modules as possible and also to use the autoload
modules option in the config to ensure those modules get loaded when
required. It keeps the kernel small too.
