There are always EHD [1] and PPDD, though they need kernel
patches/rebuilds. EHD also needs login to be patched.
Also, AFAIR, root can read the directory when your logged in to it.
I don't think these would be suitable for this situation, best bet, would
be PGP/GPG for private mail, which means getting the people she mails
privately to use it also. Or use a free mail system for private mail.
