"These guys are working on a new MPEG4-based codec called 3ivX. The
whole 3ivX.com team, under the supervising eye of Mr. Stux who has
created the DivX ;-) Player for Mac want to go a step further then the
current DivX codec. Their goal is to optimize compression so the file
size is smaller, higher quality and fully streamable. Above that the
codec will be supported on all platforms (Windows, Macintosh, BeOS,
Linux, ...).
To help accomplishing that the code of the player will be open source."

Very ambitious of them, but if vorbis could do the (almost) same with
mp3..
