Paul Jakma's [paulj at domain itg.ie] 28 lines of dribble included:
:>ipfilter has things ipchains doesn't have, and vice versa. depends what
:>you want to do - i suspect ipchains will do everything you want.
Hmm, which specific features are you talking about? There are certainly
reasons to use ipchains over ipfilter, simple packet filtering for example,
there's no need for ipfilter, but I'm struggling to think of any options
ipchains has that ipfilter doesn't.
:>but: is ipfilter still maintained? last time i checked it wasn't.
:>Whatever: you will have a much easier time on linux with ipchains .
Ipfilter doesn't work with a glibc system.
:>if ipchains does what you want, then use it. Biggest advantage is that it
:>will be faster than ipfilter.
I think we need modre detailed information on what exactly your needs are, but
I doubt they stretch past ipchains capabilities.
