i know, this should probably go to the webdev list, but i just can't
resist sharing:
Deskware is pleased to inform you of the official release of
CobolScript Professional Edition!
In addition to the regular CobolScript features, CS Professional includes:
-- LinkMaker(tm) (embedded SQL database access);
-- AppMaker(tm) (tool to create executables from your programs);
-- CodeBrowser(tm) (web browser-based code colorizer);
-- and the CobolScript Control Panel (graphical admimistration facility).
CS Pro also has strengthened internals that permit multidimensional
arrays (OCCURS variables) and enhance variable and file processing.
For more information, visit www.cobolscript.com and click on the
CobolScript 'Fact Sheet' link in the sidebar.
Since you're an existing CobolScript developer, you can upgrade to
CS Pro for $100 per developer seat for a limited time at
https://www.cobolscript.com/cgi-bin/cobolscript.exe?catalog.cbl
by selecting the 'Professional Upgrade' edition type. All license
prices will go up significantly in mid-August, so don't wait if you
intend to upgrade.
You can also login to the new Registered Developer Site at
https://www.cobolscript.com/cgi-bin/cobolscript.exe?login.cbl to
download the zip or tar file for our new CS Standard release, version 2.01.
There are many enhancements and improvements in the latest release of
CobolScript Standard, too many to list. Included in the compressed file
is the new, navigable Developer's Guide in Acrobat 4.0 format.
***A NOTE FOR OUR Linux/FreeBSD/SunOS CUSTOMERS***
Prior to using LinkMaker (direct database access component of CS Pro)
it will be necessary for you to install unixODBC on your computer.
UnixODBC is a third-party, open source product freely available from
www.unixodbc.org. Instructions for installing unixODBC are provided
in the CobolScript Developer's Guide.
If your primary objective in upgrading to CS Pro for Linux, FreeBSD,
or SunOS is to use it with a specific database, check out unixODBC's web
site for driver availability first. Questions about unixODBC driver
availability and support should be directed to the unixODBC team.
If you can't find the driver you're looking for, you can also upgrade to
CS Pro for Windows for the same $100 price as an upgrade for your current
platform. Database drivers compatible with CS Pro for Windows are
available for nearly every database in existence.

Enjoy your programming,
