AFAIK, the aureate.net stuff piggybacks on your browser and uses port 80 so
there's not much to do there. Lots of interesting info on
www.grc.com/optout.html . You need to look at the "put the adware domains in
your /etc/hosts resolving to loopback" to prevent that sort of activity.
