Hi Joe,
Linux allows for a max of 128 Meg swap file, the 133 is just the
filesystem being a filesystem.
The file you need to look at for execing window managers is ~/.xinitrc -
the . at the start of the name means its normally hidden when you do an
ls. Just edit that and place a # infront of startkde so that you can
redo kde at a later stage if you want.
I dont know about the Chess ... I dont have that much time ;)
