>UPDATE: MINDCRAFT OFFERS TO RETEST WINDOWS NT(r) SERVER VS. LINUX
>Mindcraft recently published a study comparing the performance capabilities
>of Linux to Windows NT Server. The Linux community has voiced several

As of the May 12th, the Linux community had pretty well told them to
fuck off, actually :-)
Both Linus and Alan exchanged emails with Mindcraft, and both stated
publically that they had no confidence that any Mindcraft study, no
matter how it was nominally arranged, would actually be fair, and they
both refused to lend their names to any such deal.
They also both said that they were quite willing to take part in any
independent but similar test, carried out by a neutral 3rd party, with both
sides arranging their own systems.
Mindcraft, as of the last 2 weeks, have been absolutely silent on the
whole affair, and have been the subject of quite a few (at least 4 or 5
that I've read) seriously harsh critiques by some 'mainstream' sites
like ZDnet. Nobody has actually *stated* that they were unprofessional
and deliberately stage-managed the whole thing, but they mentioned
the words 'unprofessional' and 'Mindcraft' in the same sentence, which
is a non-actionable way of saying precisely that.
