i have gdm from RH6 running on a remote alpha, and can connect to it fine
with X -query. is it a total failure of xdmcp in gdm or just related to
responding to broadcasts?

i'll try X -broadcast and see what happens.

[aside] Xnest supports xdmcp: so you can have enlightenment running in a
window on your windowmaker desktop... now to find out whether you can run
Xnest on a remote machine displaying to Xnest on another machine running in
a window on X on another machine! :)
