The best program for your purposes would probably be PGP 6.0.2i,
obtainable from http://www.pgpi.com.
It includes an application called PGP disk which sets aside a part of
your hard disc for encrypted material. This is invisible on your hard
drive until mounted when it is shown as another drive. While it is open
it can be used freely as any drive on your disk. When unmounted the
enclosed data is perfectly safe.
