Can anyone propose an idiots guide to making a directory available
to a windows user, via samba?
I've created a user under Linux, so there's a local name/password
pair, I've put
[datalib]
comment = Data Library
path = /home/data/
read only = Yes
in /etc/smb.conf (kill -SIGHUP samba, even restarted it), and asked
the windows user to do the biz with "map network drive" in Windows
Explorer (using \\<IP-number>\datalib as the "path").
They get: "The computer or sharename could not be found. Make sure
you typed it correctly and try again."
I've got various shares exported already that I can access from
various machines, so I can't see where the problem is.
Any ideas?
