There is so much useful stuff in glib that you might as well use it if
it's available on your target platform. Let's face it, who finds
writing list modules interesting these days? And since GTK and Glib
are entirely separate these days, there shouldn't be any need to worry
about using it for a non-GTK app.
Requiring GTK for a non-GUI app just to use the object system is less
defensible, but since the object/signal stuff will be in a separate
library for the next version of GTK, it'd be wroth keeping on your
list of libraries that maye come in useful.
