Thanks Mel,

I think /dev/sgX was the one device I didn't try ( I tried /dev/scdX,
/dev/sdX, /dev/sdaX etc, etc, ad nauseum ). I'll try it tonight and get
back to you if that's okay? (Forgot to bring a few CD-Rs into work).
