Seeing as how we are on this subject here's one for ya,

how do I delete the following files...

#ls -las | more
total 869
   0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 0 Apr 12 08:19 unexpected

              ^

% Invalid input detected at
   0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 0 Apr 12 08:14 unexpected

             ^

% Invalid input detected at
   0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 0 Apr 12 08:15 unexpected

            ^

% Invalid input detected at
   0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 0 Apr 12 08:16 unexpected

 ^

% Invalid input detected at
==========================================================

? any help much appreciated, and how would you go about creating them

Proinnsias, I'm ashamed of you.

Quote parsing is performed by the *shell*, and option parsing is
performed by the *command*. Quoting the name won't make any
difference to what 'rm' sees.

It would be a good idea if people actually *tried* their solutions
before passing them on as advice...
