We have a ADSL test setup in one of our labs and I'd really like to run
bandwidth tests on it. The PC connected to the ADSL modem is running
(maybe I should say will be running as soon as I can install it)
Mandrake 8.0. The ADSL modem has an Ethernet and a USB connection,
I'm using the Ethernet connection (I think it's 100Mbps but I will check
tomorrow). The Modem is currently setup to bridge traffic, but can also
be setup to route traffic and do NAT.
How should I go about testing the ADSL bandwidth short of downloading a
file and timing the transfer. Are there any catches in relation to
NAT bottlenecks, or anything else that I should watch out for.
Also can someone confirm that the normal setup of the ADSL modem should
and not bridging.
Finally, what is the "normal" pricing structures in other countries.
Is is usage based, or Flat Rate?
