I don't know, maybe someone has seen this.
I'm using a DLT7000 with an AHA 2944 under kernel 2.2.19 with Amanda as
part of a backup scheme.
In the past I've checked tape labels by using 'dd if=/dev/st0', which
was fine, but now (possibly since moving to 2.2.19), I get:
dd: /dev/st0: Cannot allocate memory
and something similar from cat. However Amanda still works fine!
Suffice to say that the machine in question is not short of memory, and
I have tried using explicit size arguments (viz.
dd if=/dev/st0 bs=1024 count=1).
Any ideas?
Paul
