I have been lucky enough to be able to get my win modem to work under Linux
(Mandrake7.1), I used ltmodem-5.78e to do it and all seems to be well, I can
connect to any of 3 ISP's using KPPP at speeds of 48000kbs but then when I
try
to use the connection my problems start. Every application I use reports
that
it cannot make a connection. I have tried the Network Utility that comes
with
KDE and "ping" does not work either but "traceroute" does, saying that
195.0.254.76 has 30 hops max, 38 byte packets. So something is working.
I have checked and changed as many of the settings as I have come across in
KPPP, the help file says in the Frequently Asked Questions, section 7.1,
The connection works fine but I canīt start any applications, that I should
make sure the I have not probably have activated the Auto-configure hostname
option but that makes no difference either.
Any ideas out there?

PS, when I click on the details tab when I am connected it does show me
