[ILUG] NFS weirdness

I have some weirdness with NFS on one of our servers.

The problem seems to be this when a directory is created in an NFS mounted
filesystem the directory is created with roots umask not the users umask.
Creation of a normal file is OK.
Creation of a directory directly on the box which is exporting the
filesystem is OK.

The only difference between this server and other servers which work OK.
Is the fact that it is running kernel 2.4.5 I have also noticed this
problem with kernel 2.4.4

All these boxs are running RH7.1

The other servers and the clients are running bog standard RH7.1 default
kernel.

The reason I'm running 2.4.5 on this box is because I need some drivers
which were not available and I had problems with compiling the 2.4.2
kernel that shipped with RH7.1

Does anybody know of any problems with recent kernel as to NFS.

One other thing is some of the mounts on the clients returns errors.
But the mount seems to suceed and work fine.
I am having trouble recreating these errors so I can't post them here.
