Hi All,
I have been playing around with Mandrake 8.0, and am configuring up a
machine as a router/firewall with a number of interfaces.
The problem is that I can't seem to get the 3c509 card work.
I booted up DOS and ran 3c5x9cfg, and set the card to IRQ 5, IO port 0x300.
Inside netconf I put in these settings, and it doesn't bloody work.
When I tried running modprobe, it says that parm_io is invalid, so I tried
just leaving the irq setting in /etc/modules.conf, but that didn't work
either.
Modprobe runs, but the card doesn't get picked up.
From looking at /proc/interrupts and /proc/ioports there doesn't seem to be
a conflist, but I'm not sure.
The machine is based on an Asus P5A/B board, with PNP disabled.
Other cards:
Matrox G400 AGP
Netgear 10/100 (FA310 I think)
Genius Speedsurfer ISDN (Is picked up, but haven't tried to use it yet)
Buffalo PCMCIA Wavelan in Buffalo PCMCIA Adapter
3c509
Any ideas much appreciated 'cos I'm stumped.
I was going to run Smoothwall on the box, but it doesn't support either the
ISDN card or the wavelan card, so I'm going to have to build a DoD firewall
manually instead.
Thanks,
David.
