Yes, a BMW 5 series can go faster than a LandRover Discovery - but which
is more powerful ?

It depends on your requirements...

I'd be much happier with the architectures of the bigger hardware vendors
 - Sun, HP-UX , IBM, Compaq (ahem. DEC ) ( Alpha / VAX ) for *big* solutions,
that require more than just CPU speed.

But - I still want a nice zippy Pentium with shag loads of RAM for my
desktop.

That being said - one of the mail relays at home is VMS... ( I needed a native
DECnet node :)

You shared secrets with aliens, just to pay for cornflakes ? No wonder
you are a fan of Intel and Microsoft... shame on you.
