Get some Cross-Over cable, this will provide a direct connection between the
2 NIC's (hubs and switch's twist the centre pair) hence the name.
Machine A
Ip Config
192.168.1.1
255.255.255.0
Machine B
Ip Config
192.168.1.2
255.255.255.0
Enable File and Printer Sharing, Make a Ghost image of the ME install or
whatever and wh00r it across to the second windows box.

The first places to look are probably the silly ones . . .
Firstly, are you using a cross-over cable, or just a length of normal
ethernet...
Next check the hosts file in c:\windows on both to see if they 'know' about
each other
Then work out if networking is actually set-up on both in such a way that
they are able to talk to each other...
yeah, I know these are the obvious 'but of course I have' questions, but
I've tripped on these myself...
