CS is mandatory?
I have 2X 40Gb Seagate series 5 UDMA 100 drives (running at 66) and
I have them set as master/slave via the jumpers and they are fine with
Linux/Solaris 8 and WinME...

Subject: [ILUG] Hard Drive Issues
Hi All,
I bought a Quantum (now Maxtor) Fireball AS 40Gb drive from jungle last
week, and have installed it in my Redhat 7.1 server at home.
I am trying to use it as one single partition, but seem to be getting a lot
of strange problems.
dmesg return the following output:
ide0: reset timed-out, status=0x80
hdb: status error: status=0x00 { }
hdb: drive not ready for command
I have tried using the drive on the on-board controller, the board's a Abit
P5AB, and on a Hotrod 66 controller.
It seems to be detected correctly, but I'm not 100% sure.
Is this a limitation of partition sizes, or do I have a dodgy disk?
I also never new that using CS was mandatory on UDMA 66+ disks, so could
this be causing it?
Thanks,
David.
