Unfortunately, the less-stupid spammers (there are no smart ones[1]) have
already automated this.

Well, I use the _same_ mailing-list manager as you (Mailman).
I manually add members' alternate addresses to the approved list as they
use those, have to approve posts from such addresses the first time
(only), but, overall, discard practically all non-member posts (because
it's almost all spam).
And zero spam gets through. Works for me.<tm>
