You don't need to buy an update every time. Only if you want the new kernel, glibc etc.. Show me one Linux distro that doesn't need to be rebooted when updating these components? All other updates can be downloaded from SuSE ftp site and don't necessarily mean you have to bring the server down...

Good for servers. But SuSE (and others) have it beat for Laptops and general personal use.
