Whatever else they did, they brought computing to the masses. We would be
using 486's today, if 600 million people weren't willing to pay £2000 for
something that could run word & excel.
OK, it could be quickly pointed out that there were word processors &
spreadsheets that were popular before Microsoft...but they pushed it
beyond what was reasonable, so that people think they have to use Word for
office notices and sending emails.
