('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) If you check out http://sdf.lonestar.org/~blindpng you will find code that gets the poition of the mouse it is used as part of a screen magnification program. You will have to modify the code to print the numbers to a text file. It uses xlib so it should run on almost any unix system. The code is available on http://emhain.wit.ie/~p99csd07/ as sdf.lonestar.org has been up and down a bit.
