You can add a soundboard and use that instead, lower the vol on the
speakers. Don't ask me how to do it though, I just noticed that it works on
one of my linux box's (the only one with the soundcard!)
Sorry I can't help more...

Hi,
the machine I'm using has a particularly loud system speaker. So
irritatingly loud that I've had to disconnect it. Every time I use
completion on the command line I don't want to hear this noise. However, I
miss it for some things eg I like to get it
* when email is received.
* when long processes finish (ie $ command; /usr/x11.../xkbbell)
This is a problem. Is it possible to
a) lower the volume of the speaker
b) tell the shell not to beep on command completion.
Gavin
