(ip-chains) pppd dials up soon after a windows box boots up, even before
user is logged in and drives mapped.
IPTraf reveals traffic from the windows box to 126.96.36.199:25 4
packets, 192 bytes
follwing that more traffic from the windows box to 188.8.131.52:25 4
packets 192 bytes
later ICMP bad/unknown from the windows box to 184.108.40.206
and ARP from 0020af67c203 to ffffffffffff
needledss to say those numbers are *not* on my net (192.168. )
the chains rules *used* to work fine before i attempted DHCP and server
upgrade to kernel; 2.2.4 (what was i thinking.....!!)
went back to what i *thought* was the same chains and DNS setup i had before.
i've tried reading the DNS-how-to but it didnt really clear it up.
