hey Ivan,
thanks for the info. It just annoyed me
a bit to see on both the gnome and
kde sites the notice which said they
were not supported.
i had just gotten 7.1 when i found out
and was wondering why when I saw
gnome 1.4 and kde 2.x on Slackware 8.0.
thanks again,
shane

by not supported they mean thayt if you run into problems they won't be
able to help you. that is all that is meant. slackware does supply gnome
1.4 tarballs though. i remember it was one of the main selling points of
slackware 8.0 when it was released a few months ago. you can get the
tarballs on ftp.esat.net. there in
/pub/linux/slackware-8.0/slakware/gtk1 . most ppl who use slackware
compile it themselves anyways. if your looking for a well supported
linux you'd be better off with mandrake or debian.
regards
ivan
