There is an O'Reilly book on building Linux Clusters. I do not have a copy
of it, but I browsed through it in a bookshop and it doesn't look too
difficult to get a basic cluster going. They have an example program,
"hello world" more or less, which farms the processes out to each node,
which then returns back to the central node (and then a message comes up
telling you which node came first, second and so on). Have a look for it in
book shops (micromail (www.micromail.ie) have it for £41.88, and it now
seems to come with a CDROM).

I think it is quite different to SMP (from a practical point of view) and
you need to write the code specifically to take advantage of the
system. There is quite a lot of skill required to get the best out of a
clustered setup.
