Configure your Kernel to boot to a VESA framebuffer device at domain 1024*768 and
then use the X FrameBuffer server to handle X ?
Works nicely on most VESA compliant devices (which should include your
laptop ...)
Not always the most efficient, and TuxRacer could prove problematic at best,
but should work for most basic stuff ...
