there are a bunch of cron jobs running too, aren't there. what are
they running? essentially cron finds a job to run and then pipes the
output (if there is any) to sendmail to let the user know the job ran ok.
one of the cron jobs on your system is hanging.

whatever it is, it's set to run once an hour at 2 minutes past. find it,
fix it (or disable it) and kill the extra sendmail and cron jobs.
