It may be better, initially to look at more effective antennas.
Designing 2G4 amplifiers is not that difficult as long as the power is
low. Most of the components are freely available. The problem is that
the cards have to both send and receive.
The 2G4 band is not that far away from that used for MMDS. Some of the
MMDS antenna designs would probably work with a bit of tweaking. I think
I had a pile of designs for pirate^H^H^H^Hthird party MMDS antennas in
old copies of the Black Book.
The stamped wire dish is about the commonest MMDS antenna in use.
However there are others such as the Coffee Can antenna (basically a 1
lb coffee can with a chickenwire funnel around it., the helical and even
a satellite dish that can be pressed into service. There is a company in
Portlaw, Co. Waterford that makes the wire dish antennas for MMDS. I
think it is StellaMarus or something like that and they would be worth
contacting for antennas.
