Right. Now I have resized the Partition to 16GB for W2K with the remaining
4GB unallocated at the moment using Partition Magic 6 with now errors.
Machine has rebooted fine and sees all 16GB of C:. PM6 also sees the
remaining 4 GB unallocated. No sign of the error being thrown up due to
NTFS. When shall I expect to see this? Possibly when I now try to install
RH7.1 perhaps?

hi,
Lilo installs itself to the mbr which is
independent of where you install linux.
it can be on a different section of hdd
or even on a seperate one.
the only problem you would have there
is the ntfs which was already pointed out.
hth,
shane

I have a 20GB HDD. Would it be possible for me to simply resize the W2K
partition to say 16GB and install RH7.1 on the rest or would I have to
create space closer to the start of the disk?
Dave
Hi
I've done that before - just confirming that it should work:
I started with a blank drive, created the partitions,
Installed 2K first and then RH7.0, installing LILO
on the MBR.

I tried doing it and failed. My problem was that the win2k partition
took up
the whole drive and Partition Magic 6 has a bug that prevents win2k NTFS
partitions being resized or moved. If you have space on your drive for
Linux's
partitions i don't see why it should be any different from dual booting
other OS'es. I think it would be best if win2K was installed first and
then
use LILO on the MBR during RH7.1 installation.
