i can almost see ext3 for /, but not for /usr. /usr doesn't change much,
so what's the point of journalling? as i said, it can be mounted ro.
at worst you'll fsck a 1.5 gig fs which takes just a few seconds on a
decent machine.

grub's fine for home use i suppose, but lilo makes more sense for servers.
it supports serial consoles and it boots linux. anything else (for a
server) is a fluffy waste of bytes.
