Hi Daniel,
I should have included that in my original mail. Yes I tried that using
[root at domain euroweb2 up2date]# rpm -Uvh openssl-0.9.6-9.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:

I seem to be caught in a warp/catch22 where you can't do x without y but you
can't install y because x is dependant on it and the system wont permit the
uninstall.
Any more suggestions would be really welcome.
Thanks Daniel.

Try doing a rpm -U to upgrade the openssl package to the newer
version.
